I read your detailed comment and I was wondering before suggesting you someone. I do not wholly agree to perennialists' point of view and here let me admit that I haven't read them enough so my knowledge of their 'philosophy' IS limited.
Now, for me tasawwuf is beyond the realm of PHILOSOPHY. Perennialism is on the other hand seems to be rooted into it despite acknowledging its shortcomings.
Secondly, one book that I would highly recommend you to read before you do anything else - and get it asap if you are really interested - :) is TASAWWUF KYA HAI? By Maulana Manzoor Naumani, Maulana Owais Nadwi and Maulana Syed Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi (rahimahumullah)
